Changes to the Data Protection Laws (GDPR) come into force on 25th May 2018. To ensure your website is “GDPR Friendly” there are some actions points that need to be implemented, if you have not already done so. The following areas need to be looked at:

SSL certificate (required)
SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral.

Opt-in on forms (required)
All contact forms will now need an easy to read, opt-in tick box. This means that any website users are presented with a clear way to subscribe, or not subscribe, to your database.

Opt-out page
(required)
Under the GDPR right to object, users should be provided the opportunity to opt-out of marketing preferences. We will create a contact form specifically for this purpose, which will be linked from the privacy policy page.

Privacy policy (required)
A privacy policy discloses some or all of the ways your website gathers, uses, and manages visitor’s data. We can provide a template, from which you can amend the relevant details.

Pop-up (optional)
Entice visitors of your website to sign up to your newsletter/database by offering them an incentive.

STORAGE (recommended)
Though this isn’t a service we provide, you will need a secure system for storing client information, along with records of them opting into your database.
